Main Purpose of Job
This recruitment is for two Community Health Educator III positions.
The main purpose of both these positions is to oversee the statewide implementation of public health programs addressing prevention, safety and treatment of cannabis use in collaboration with the Cannabis Public Health Branch Program Manager and other branch staff.
These positions will assist in the planning, development, training, coordination, implementation and evaluation of specialized local public health programs and strategies to address cannabis-related public health issues.
These positions will support local programs in developing targeted school-based, community-based, infrastructure, retailer intervention strategies and community engagement activities.
These positions will also provide support for the state agencies involved in public health approaches.
These positions will also provide essential programmatic support, including grant management, financial tracking and program reporting.
These positions will act as health education and technical assistance consultants for specialized state and local public health programs and will be responsible for offering support to local health departments, state agencies, community-based organizations and providers.
These positions will also conduct strategic analysis of local programs, provide training on best and promising practices, offer program management assistance and technical support and develop policy solutions to address health disparities and achieve health equity goals within each jurisdiction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.
Experience :
Two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects.
Notes :

Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and three years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects for the required education and experience.
2.
Candidates may substitute a Master's degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or Health Science for the required education and one year of the required experience.
3.
Candidates may substitute a Doctorate degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Science or Public Health Policy for the required education and experience.
4.
Candidates may substitute U.S.
Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following:
Experience working in public health program administration.
Experience of managing grants/contracts.
Experience working with budgets and tracking expenditures.
Experience applying evidence-based public health resources and knowledge to practice.

Experience working in a dynamic team environment and collaborating with others to drive the development and implementation of priorities.

Experience/skills in oral and written communication.
7.
Experience/skills at multitasking while handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
