Body Shop Estimator

JOB SUMMARY
The Body Shop Estimator position helps ensure the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto body operations by providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work.This position must document estimates and the necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
Education and/or years' experience required:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Previous supervisory experience
Minimum two to three years truck body experience or related field
Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:

Body certification or designation preferred
Basic personal computer skills including Email and Microsoft Office
Excellent customer service skills
Working knowledge of the truck industry
CDL preferred but not required
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
An aptitude and interest in body repair
Strong administrative, organizational and computer skills
Effective time management skills

Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable):

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supervising all body shop department personnel, as well as monitoring their performance in servicing customers under the direction of the Truck Body Manager.
Assess the present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers.
Lead Technicians in any maintenance and repairs as needed.
Prepares estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards
Oversees delivery of repairs and manages customer expectations.
Ensures required documentation is complete and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Assigns work to technicians and ensures all work meets quality control standards.
Maintains excellent customer service focus and documents all customer interactions for each job.
Encouraging technicians to keep their skills up-to-date through periodic technical training on new systems and components offered by manufacturers.
Ensure that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
Review and appraise the results of activities within the department and take appropriate action as necessary.
Some overnight travel may be required as needed. (Lodging, meals and travel expenses are compensated per company guidelines.)
Possess the authority to hire and fire employees or give suggestions and recommendations throughout the process of hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees.
Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment to meet the needs of the company, employees, and/or customers.
Promote safe work habits and ensure that safety rules are followed.
Coordinate the processing of warranty claims with Warranty Manager/Warranty Admin and administer warranty and policy adjustment in the most fair and honest manner for the customer, dealership and vendor.
Ensures that work areas are clean, and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
Adhere to work schedule and maintain regular attendance.
Performs Wallwork Inc. wide duties as requested by the designated supervisor.
