About the Position
This is a principal-level lead and/or supervisory audit and investigative work in the areas of performance, financial auditing, and budget review. Incumbents perform the most complex auditing assignments in assigned functional areas. Work is performed under the general supervision of a manager or Senior Auditor and assignments are reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to generally accepted auditing principles, techniques, and procedures.
About the Agency
All legislative powers of the County are vested in the County Council. In addition, the County Council sits as the District Council on zoning and land use matters, and as the Board of Health on health policy matters.
Examples of Work
Presents data to the County Auditor within the timeframe established for the survey phase of engagement.
Ensures audit guides are prepared in accordance with the established office policy and are acceptable as written 90 percent of the time.
Ensures exit conference memorandum are prepared no later than the end of the next business day following the exit conference.
Obtains data and information diplomatically to the extent of no complaints based on lack of diplomacy and tact.
Ensures research and analysis are thorough enough on the first approach to preclude additional tests 95 percent of the time.
Ensures work papers are always prepared in accordance with office policy; conclusions are documented in work papers 100 percent of the time.
Ensures concurrence by operating personnel of 95 percent of factual data and 100 percent of compliance recommendations is mandatory. Acceptance of 75 percent of recommendations pertaining to systems, methods, and procedures are acceptable.
Has the ability to gather and analyze information, design and test solutions to problems, and formulate plans.
Reports results of audit work and develop and/or make strong recommendations for corrective actions.
Demonstrates proficiency in discussing and presenting, orally and in writing, audit findings; and demonstrates highly seasoned audit work.
Willing and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting/business/public administration or a closely related field
Three (3) years of professional related experience
One (1) year in a lead capacity in auditing and/or accounting.
Must possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
