The Physiotherapy Department comprises about 112 EFT (Equivalent Full Time) staff at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
It provides seven days per week, 12 hours per day services to acute and aged care areas.About the role:
The Transition and Maintenance physiotherapy clinical stream provides a comprehensive service for all acute inpatients within Austin Health.A regular day will see you:
Triage the general medicine patient referral and caseload, identify physiotherapy problems, provide physiotherapy treatments for patients with clinical frailty, falls risk, functional change and chronic disease managementProvide supervision to grade 1 staff and allied health assistantsProvide training to physiotherapy studentsAssist with in-hospital physiotherapy management of the Transition and Maintenance clinical steam patients when requiredParticipate in active research projects in conjunction with the Physiotherapy departmentComplete quality improvement and education project workAbout you:
Ideally, you'll have:
At least 3 years' experience working as a clinical physiotherapist, preferably with experience in General Medicine and Aged CarePrevious experience in Aged Care and NDIS discharge planningPrevious experience in the management of cardio-respiratory chronic disease patientsPrevious experience and skills in supervision of staff and training of studentsCapacity to work well with other members of a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrate clinical, organisational, program development, leadership and evaluation and supervision skills.Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
