Job Duties

Are you knowledgeable of procurement, facility maintenance, and mechanical systems? Do you have experience leading and managing a diverse team? Then look no further! The Virginia Department of Energy, Administration program, is seeking a General Services Manager to supervise procurement, building/maintenance/grounds, and garage staff. The successful candidate will oversee the acquisition of goods and services, develop policies and procedures, manage contract administration, evaluate costs, resolve complaints, and ensure that the facility, grounds, and garage are maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to qualify for this position:

Leadership and management experience

Project management experience

Considerable knowledge of various construction trades and building codes

Proficiency in facilities and grounds maintenance

Knowledge of OSHA policies and procedures

General knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems

Ability to independently identify and implement problem solutions and best practices

Knowledge of and ability to implement energy savings measures

Ability to understand and communicate written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other software used in facilities administration

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to pay attention to detail, multitask, and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

A valid driver's license with a good driving record

This position has been designated as required to file a Statement of Economic Interest in accordance with Section 2.2-3114 of the Code of Virginia. In addition, individuals accepted for employment will have to successfully pass a drug test, reference and background check as part of the Virginia Energy pre-employment process.

Additional Considerations

Certified Facility Manager or a Facility Management Professional Certification and/or comparable certifications or experience preferred

VCA, VCO, and VCCO credentials preferred. If not already certified, the successful candidate will need to acquire certifications within the first 12 months of employment, subject to availability of classes
