Technology Solutions
Java Developer/Engineer as part of the Compliance, Surveillance & Supervision Product Technology team. The team is responsible for providing technology solutions for the Compliance, Surveillance & Supervisory product group which leverage both in-house built and vendor tools (e. g. NICE Actimize, SMART). The team must ensure all of the Regulatory, Compliance, and Internal Audit obligations as identified by TD Securities Technology Risk Management/Information Security standards are met by the delivered solution.
Position Overview:
This Java Developer/Engineer position will play a key role in solution design, implementation and integration of tools and technologies that are part of our Compliance, Surveillance & Supervision area. It will include integrating upstream systems within the bank with a core product and building robust and maintainable data pipelines and data analytics engines.
A Java Software Engineer with Data integration experience and background in Application Architecture, Design / Deployment and Testing, Product Certification, Real-time Event Driven Systems, Application Integration, Application Monitoring and Management, Databases and Application Integration with knowledge of Java, JMS, Pythion, REST, and SQL is best suited for this role.
We're looking for a strong and confident technical leadership profile with a strong emphasis on quality and best practices. Ideally, candidates should have 8+ years of experience in senior software engineering roles, with a history of project commitment, seeing software projects through from design and review to test and development, from initial deployment to production and with a customer-centric approach.
As part of our team, you will contribute towards the future strategy and technology direction of our technology platform, implement, and maintain high quality code to best practices, take part in capacity planning and design activities, and work with colleagues within the TDS Compliance team and beyond to help deliver best-in-Class TD systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Business knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Capital Markets (Familiarity with Asset Classes and Products)
Compliance (AML, Trade Surveillance and Supervision)
Technical knowledge and hands-on experience:
Experience in Java and some Python, building, unit testing, delivering and productionizing scalable and distributed systems
Understanding of Messaging Systems and Paradigms (e. g. Solace, Kafka, etc. )
Solid understanding of various approaches to data storage, ETL, and data engineering
Ability to operate with large data sets in both batch oriented and pseudo-real time environments
Enterprise integrations with vendor applications
UNIX, Linux as the operating systems
Implementation experience of either NICE Actimize Platform or other AML surveillance vendor solutions or SMARTS/Trading Hub or other trade surveillance vendor platform
Understanding of Workflow Engines
Detailed knowledge of how reference data is used by Front, Middle, and Back Office applications
Detailed understanding of transaction lifecycle: like order-execution or payment-confirmation life cycles
Understanding of DevOps Tools and the Agile Methodology
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's or Graduate degree
Strong academic background (e. g. , computer science, engineering)
7 + years relevant experience
Depth & Scope:
Expert knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as organization issues
Expert knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business/organization, Bank standards, and may fulfill a governance role
Expert knowledge and experience in own discipline; integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities
Acts as a key contributor in a complex and critical environment
May provide leadership to teams or projects; shares expertise
Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations
