Plans, coordinates and delivers care to meet the identified needs of patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised because they are having operative or other invasive procedures.
This includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
Assesses and applies knowledge of the surgical procedure and the patient's perioperative experience throughout the patient care continuum.
Assesses, plans, intervenes, and evaluates the outcome of interventions based on criteria that support a standard of care targeted toward this specific patient population.
Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations consistent with perioperative nursing practice, hospital policies and procedures, and current governing nursing practice in the state.
Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain a steady level of productivity.
Assumes responsibility for "on-call" coverage.
Communication on behalf of the patient reflects the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of West Virginia or an appropriate multi-state license.
Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) preferred.

Two years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
Previous OR experience preferred.
