Overview
Burlington Probation and Parole is seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Probation and Parole Supervisor.
The ideal candidate for this position holds the ability to supervise, communicate effectively, and will bring a positive attitude and the willingness to learn.
Probation and Parole is a large part of the Department of Corrections by working with individuals in the community sentenced to probation, parole or furlough, law enforcement, and other service providing professionals.
Individuals are under supervision by a probation and parole officer who will hold the individual accountable to follow all required conditions put forth by the court.
Probation and Parole is also a part of transitional services such as housing and employment.
The supervisory position is responsible to provide support to a team of probation and parole officers.
This is a full-time position located in downtown Burlington, Vermont.
This position is an in office position and does hold the possibility of nights / weekends at times.

Environmental Factors
Duties are mainly performed in a field office.
Job duties require private means of transportation and some travel is expected.
Evening and weekend work may occur.
Emergency situations may require availability at any time.
Direct contact with offenders is predictable and poses possible danger.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND five(5) years or more of work experience, including three(3) years in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of correctional services for clients in a human services setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience.
Bachelor's degree.
Special Requirements
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
