New England Life Care is hiring a

full-time Pharmacy Manager for our specialty pharmacy Canton, Massachusetts

to join our growing team! This ideal candidate for this position will have IV experience, a positive demeanor, and pay meticulous attention to detail. Unlike retail pharmacies, you will not spend most of your time interacting with customers, will be in a comfortable environment with like-minded professionals, won't have to rotate from location to location, and will be able to sharpen your skills as a pharmacist!

Job Summary: The Pharmacy Manager will oversee the day-to-day pharmacy operations and provide leadership to the pharmacy staff. This position will work in conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy to implement change and ensure adherence to processes. This individual will have direct oversight of Clinical Pharmacists and will work in tandem with the Technician Manager/Supervisor and Operations Manager. The Pharmacy Manager will hold all required pharmacy licenses, including but not limited to state Board(s) of Pharmacy, DEA, etc. and will be responsible for upholding all local, state, and federal rules and regulations and adhering to industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Works in conjunction with Director of Pharmacy to ensure departmental compliance with all NELC policies and procedures, federal, state and Joint Commission regulations/standards.
Provides timely, constructive feedback, coaching to clinical pharmacy staff, as needed, focusing on the situation, issue, or behavior in question; ensures that these conversations are appropriately documented.
Guarantees that all pharmacy services are provided in a professional, safe, and cost-effective manner ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Provides appropriate guidance and supervision of pharmacy staff in the delivery of patient care.
Effectively collaborates with clinical team members in the evaluation of the appropriateness of therapy for patients referred to NELC.
Oversees and when necessary, participates in the daily workflow of the pharmacy department, delegating tasks as appropriate. Coordinates workflow with other departments. Provides oversight to ensure consistency in workflow processes.
Review prescriptions issued by physicians / authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed for dispensing the order.
Assists the referral source as an escalation step in developing and implementing a plan for each patient's smooth transition from hospital to home.
Demonstrates competency in the use and management of medication administration equipment. Accurately programs infusion pumps prior to dispensing to patients.
Demonstrates competency in the preparation / compounding / dispensing of medications according to NELC policies and procedures.
Effectively communicates patient requirements and changes in patient status to appropriate members of infusion and reimbursement teams as well as the HHA staff involved in meeting the patient's home health needs.
Ensures that confidentiality of patient information is maintained in accordance with state and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
Coordinate completion of new hire orientation / training and annual / routine staff competency assessments with the Pharmacy Trainer(s), Director of Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Technician Supervisor.
Assists pharmacy leadership in the development, interpretation and implementation of new policies and procedures.
Works with the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to ensure department is appropriately staffed to fulfill role in NELC service program.
Educational / Professional Requirements:

Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the field of intravenous admixing preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years home infusion therapy experience preferred
Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience in a hospital or homecare setting preferred
Skills:

Registered Pharmacist, in good standing, with a valid license.
Knowledge of state Board of Pharmacy licensing regulations required.
Knowledge of Quality Assurance Requirements for home infusion therapy pharmacy preferred.
Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 Sterile Compounding Standards required.
Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations preferred.
Knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation process and overall JC standards preferred.
Valid Drivers License in the state where employed.
Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership skills required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Excellent organizational skills required.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculation, formulation of pharmaceutical preparations and data analysis required.
Ability to define problems, collect / analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions required.
Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and at all levels of the NELC organization verbally and in writing required.
Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team required.
Ability to participate in On Call rotation for pharmacy.
Dependability in attendance and job performance required.
Working / practical knowledge of microcomputer systems including patient documentation systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), automated pharmacy systems, and IV Laminar flow Hood preferred.
