About our team and what we'll build together

The SVP of Content & Communications owns and executes the editorial vision that enhances the brand and drives more people to theSkimm. This person leads with creative and operational excellence and leadership and oversees the strategy that brings our content to life across our always-on channels. They will ensure editorial excellence and deliver on our mission each day, while also presiding over our communications and PR team to execute brand moments and strategic partnerships. In this role, you will shape content and strengthen the brand and overall awareness of our brand.

This strategic senior leader works across multiple channels, including email, video, social, audio, branded content and events, and supervises a staff of over 20. He/she/they also collaborates across the organization to help further business goals, and is the key stakeholder of these relationships as they relate to content.
How you'll contribute to our mission

  • Final responsibility for day-to-day management of all channels, ensuring a best-in-class content operation.
  • Oversee all content team leads, including content operations, video, audio, social, branded content, etc.
  • Manage our PR/Comms agency to develop/execute communications and brand/market strategies
  • Help develop and execute the roadmap for strategic partnerships with organizations and people that advance the brand's mission and impact.
  • Own and develop strategic brand moments, requiring broad cross departmental collaboration.
  • Oversee and maintain quality and consistency of voice and vision across all content channels, ensuring that all content is on brand and aligns with the mission.
  • Oversee and maintain operational processes by instituting systems and procedures to ensure an efficient, streamlined editorial department that can successfully work cross-functionally.
  • Determine and oversee cross-platform content strategy.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, train and motivate staff.

This role's expected annual base salary is $200,000-$225,000, with a potential bonus of up to $30,000. We'll consider a variety of factors when determining the offered base salary, including an evaluation of a candidate's skills, abilities, experience, location, market demands, and internal parity.

About the office

This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work.

Our office is available to use four days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We have a hybrid environment.
