The Brand Strategy & Creative team at theSkimm is a group of ambitious and collaborative designers and strategists who define and execute theSkimm's visual identity. As a Brand Designer, you'll create designs that support our commerce marketing needs and editorial products while contributing to the evolution of theSkimm's brand.
The ideal candidate has a sophisticated aesthetic, strong technical design skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
How you'll contribute to our mission

  • Collaborate with the commerce, editorial, marketing and product teams to create dedicated marketing emails, campaign materials, promotional assets, and product designs that resonate with theSkimm's audience, while also supporting post-sale design needs for sales teams
  • Ensure theSkimm's brand styles and voice is represented in all projects
  • Design and refine newsletter templates, sales decks, pitch materials, and business collateral that align with theSkimm's brand, enhance readability, and drive revenue.
  • Mock up and optimize campaign experiences and designs, iterating based on performance insights to ensure impactful results.
  • Staying up to date on design trends to ensure our materials feel fresh, modern, and relevant.
  • Present clear and compelling ideas to stakeholders, while managing expectations
You're ready for this! Here's a bit more about what we're looking for
  • 3+ years of professional experience in digital design
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as independently
  • Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast-evolving environment
  • Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with strong technical proficiency in email design and layout.
  • Experience expressing a brand identity across all channels and campaigns
  • Sophisticated design aesthetic with a passion for typography, strong composition skills, and an understanding of grids and color theory
  • Familiarity with creating assets for marketing emails, newsletters, and digital campaigns.
  • Solid understanding of branding, growth marketing, and visual storytelling.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across teams and incorporate feedback effectively.

This role's expected annual base salary is $75,000-$85,000. We'll consider a variety of factors when determining the offered base salary, including an evaluation of a candidate's skills, abilities, experience, location, market demands, and internal parity.
