Description
Summary:
Works with the MDIH Medical Staff in the provision of high-quality care within the scope of the Hospitalist service and as delegated by the covering Physician. Responsibilities include coverage of Inpatient, Observation, Swing Bed with response Emergency Departments calls for assistance. Provides care to patients including monitoring patient condition and preparing for patient discharges and successful transitions.

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Current Licensure and Certification
Holds current DEA
BLS, ACLS required
Experience Required:
As defined in the Medical Staff Credentialing for AHP Hospitalist Privileges.
Special Requirements:
Excellent Communications Skills, Teamwork and Computer Skills. Demonstrates ability to prioritize. Critical thinking skills.
Cognitive Requirements:
Emotional maturity and excellent communication skills required.
Ability to work with distressed or anxious patients or family members.
Ability to take in, process and apply clinical information in a wide variety of patient care situations.
Ability to learn new techniques and incorporate them, through a new finding, into current practice.
Ability to process and interpret complex information.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in rising from exam table, push wheelchair and assist patients in rising from and returning to wheelchair.
Able to perform under stress.
Environment:
Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.
