Summary:
Maintenance Technician Apprentice
The


is responsible for learning and practicing the main responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with mentor to learn the main responsibilities of a maintenance tech.
Maintain rigid safety standards as it relates to plant operation.
With the assistance of an experienced maintenance technician:
Perform work on equipment specifically repairs and specific equipment projects as needed.
Recommend machine repairs, issue work orders and do follow up.
Be able to do daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance
Troubleshoot secondary and auxiliary equipment, replacing sensors, etc. as needed to maintain daily production.
Disassemble, measure and install barrels, screws, tip assemblies, heater bands, etc. to include the complete injection unit.
Maintain all equipment to top level working conditions.
Order and follow up of repair parts to maintain inventory levels.
Replace lamps as necessary
Know the sequence of operation on presses
Troubleshoot plastic injection molding machines and support equipment such as granulators, thermolators, material tryers and D.M.E.'s.
Gain the knowledge and skills to independently perform the process tech functions.
Learn all required criteria on the work process schedule (if DOL approved apprentice).
Repair and maintain bathroom facilities.
Keep parking lot and walkway clear and clear of debris.
Complete paperwork that is required on the job. PM documents, etc.
Complete daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance.
Keep work area, tools, and maintenance supplies in a clean and acceptable condition at all times.
Complete all work deemed as necessary for the safe and overall efficiency of the plant and its employees.
Work together with others to complete a task.
Report and/or initiate corrective action for any unsafe conditions immediately.
Properly and effectively prioritize daily work as it occurs.
Complete and pass all required classroom work relating to the maintenance tech position.
Follow all safety requirements for the job functions of a maintenance tech.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED; or one to three years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid condition; high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
