(d/b/a MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center) seeks a Hospitalist to manage patients through the continuum of hospital care, including seeing patients in the ER, following them into the critical care unit and facilitating post-acute care such as home health care and specialized rehabilitation; make decisions regarding modifications in treatment plans through continual and consistent monitoring of hospital patients' conditions and progress; provide expedited care and testing at the hospital facility as needed; analyze records, reports, test results or examination information to diagnose medical conditions of patients; prescribe and administer medicine, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury; consult with other key individuals in the hospital including medical and surgery consultants, discharge planners, clergy and others; explain procedures, discuss test results and serve as principal contact person for hospital patients and patients' families; maintain contact with patients' referring physicians; discharge hospital patients; provide patient care oversight and medical direction to Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and licensed Physician Assistants as needed in the care of inpatients as well as pre-operative consultations; attend and actively participate in code 4/code 'blue' resuscitation efforts; and place central lines in elective, urgent and emergent situations.
The job is located at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa with roughly 35% of shifts at MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
This position involves 7 days on, 7 days off rotating schedule.
Salary:
$280,056 per year.
Minimum requirements:
Medical degree, completion of a certified ACGME or AOA approved Internal Medicine residency program, and a valid Iowa medical license.
