Primary Function
: This position ensures the Surview Leak Survey Business Unit consistently completes projects within scope, schedule, and budget by placing people in positions where they can succeed. This role involves developing and meeting annual operational and financial performance targets set by the parent organization, MRI.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor safety, quality, and productivity daily, providing actionable written and verbal feedback to direct reports consistently.
Foster a positive, productive work environment to support the growth and effectiveness of team members.
Collaborate with Surview leadership to showcase our AMLD capabilities to current and prospective clients. Conduct demos and develop a strategic pricing model and business plan to capture a greater share of AMLD work in Alabama and surrounding states.
Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Partner with team members to develop and execute strategic plans for successful operations and growth. Ensure surveys are scheduled with technicians and clients, and that instruments are calibrated and maintained. Work with Surview leadership to refine pricing strategies, maintaining profitability and operational efficiency by adjusting service offerings, client base, or staffing in collaboration with MRI support teams.
Work with Accounting and BU leaders on budgeting, accounts receivable, unbilled time, forecasting, and revenue recognition. Monitor progress and address any issues promptly.
Partner with HR to establish best hiring practices, identify and hire new employees, oversee operator qualifications (OQs), and set measurable performance goals. Conduct timely employee performance evaluations, ensuring staff development through training protocols, career paths, and succession planning.
Approve assigned timesheets and time-off requests promptly, ensuring adequate coverage for business needs.
Collaborate with Surview leadership to develop client strategies and provide the necessary structure (personnel, locations, etc.) to support current and future business. Assist in Business Development activities, including presentations and proposals, to expand opportunities for Surview and Magnolia River.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, Surview leaders, industry partners, and internal and external stakeholders.
Attend relevant meetings and conferences as required.
Adhere to all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting any unsafe activities to the supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of the natural gas industry.
Working knowledge of profit & loss statements, and budget to actual variance.
Proficient with MS Office suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to perform in a detail‐oriented environment with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials.
Ability to meet project deadlines.
Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Ability to communicate unpleasant news and difficult information in an appropriate manner.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to travel, as needed, for client or company needs.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED is required plus a minimum of five (5) years of field experience in the natural gas industry.
Previous experience in leak detection is preferred.
Successful experience in selling natural gas field services is preferred.
Other:
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Demands
:
This position is a combination of office and field environments.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time for office work and while driving.
Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
Ambulatory across uneven surfaces of a construction excavation work zone, frequent bending at knees and waist.
Consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
The person in this position frequently communicates with co‐workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
