is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated
Early Childhood Director / ECSE (Early Childhood Special Education)
to lead and manage our early childhood program. This position is available for the school year and beyond. We are looking for an individual passionate about fostering the growth and development of young learners, particularly those with special needs, and committed to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
This position, under the direct supervision of the RFSD Superintendent and Early Childhood Instructional Facilitator, is responsible for overseeing the early childhood program, ensuring a developmentally appropriate learning environment, and coordinating services for children aged 3-5, including those with special needs. The Early Childhood Director will work closely with parents, teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, and administrators to ensure the success of the program in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight:
Ensure a clean, organized, and positive early childhood environment that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Compliance:
Maintain adherence to all state and local regulations regarding health, safety, and program quality.
Staff Leadership:
Select, train, and supervise Early Childhood Teachers and Support Teachers. Provide ongoing coaching, modeling, and professional development to improve teaching practices.
Specialized Support:
Coordinate services for children with special needs, work with IEP teams, and provide direct services as required by individual education plans.
Assessment Management:
Oversee the management of Teaching Strategies GOLD® assessments and use the data to guide classroom activities and track student progress.
Enrollment & Budgeting:
Manage enrollment, registration, tuition, and the program's budget, ensuring timely deposits and billing.
Collaboration:
Work closely with building administrators, service providers, and parents to ensure effective implementation of the program.
Behavior & Safety:
Implement positive guidance strategies, manage classroom behavior, and ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
IEP Support:
Assist in developing and monitoring IEPs, collaborating with the IEP team, and maintaining up-to-date records.
Professional Development:
Attend required trainings, meetings, and conferences to stay current with early childhood education practices and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree or higher (MA preferred) in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field preferred. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is also acceptable.
Must hold or be eligible for a Colorado teaching license, Early Childhood Special Education endorsement, and Large Center Director qualification.
First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and Medication Administration training (or willingness to obtain).
Previous experience in a licensed preschool or childcare setting required; administrative experience and experience working with early childhood special education students are preferred.

Compensation
$58,037 - $90,238 Based on education and years of accountable experience*.
• Certified Salary Schedule B + 4 additional working days
Working Calendar:
189 day contract, 80% on-site

Physical Demands
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and engage with children for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as bending, squatting, and lifting.
Ability to participate in both indoor and outdoor activities with children.
Working Conditions
The Early Childhood Director/ECSE will be on-site for at least 80% of their workday.
The center is open from August through May, following the RFSD school calendar.
The noise level is moderate, and physical stamina is required for managing children's needs and participating in physical activities.
