Position Summary :
The Engineering Director - Polymers will lead the design, development, and production of advanced polymer and composite products.
This role is pivotal in overseeing high-profile research and development projects and managing cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, production, and logistics, to ensure the successful delivery of products.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in polymer engineering, leadership in large-scale projects, and an aptitude for driving innovation in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the development and execution of technically complex polymer and composite projects, from concept to final delivery.
Serve as the subject matter expert in polymer production processes, guiding teams in achieving project objectives and ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
Develop project proposals, schedules, budgets, and ensure timely delivery of programmatic milestones.
Manage Integrated Product Teams (IPT) composed of engineering, program management, quality, logistics, and production to streamline project workflows.
Provide day-to-day leadership to engineering teams, including tasking for junior engineers.
Spearhead product and technical ownership, ensuring continuous improvement in design and production processes.
Develop and deliver technical reports, presentations, and proposals to both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
A master's degree is preferred.
8+ years of experience in polymer engineering or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale engineering projects.
Proven experience in the design, fabrication, and testing of polymer and composite materials.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Deltek CostPoint.
U.S.
Citizenship or Green Card status required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD
Security Clearance
Desired Skills :
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Hands-on experience in polymer manufacturing or providing technical support for composite production.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, with an understanding of GD&T, material specifications, and technical requirements.
Experience leading research and development efforts and producing detailed technical documentation.
A proactive problem-solver with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Essential Physical Requirement:
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms.
Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty.
Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.
At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required but it is not usual.
Prior to employment, applicants will have to successfully complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug test.
