Savannah River National Laboratory's Environmental and Legacy Management (ELM) directorate is seeking a Chemical Engineer with flowsheet experience to join their team.
This role is focused on leading, advancing, developing, and applying chemical engineering and flowsheet knowledge in a research and development environment to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions in support of the mission.
This position may involve discovery, design, and development of innovative solutions which advance the state of the art.
Specifically, the researcher will be responsible for performing and documenting reviews and feedback on proposals and worked performed by contractors across the Department of Energy complex related to waste stream treatment processing.
Responsibilities
Work scope may include process support of operating facilities throughout the DOE complex to include chemical characterization, interrogation of chemical reaction thermodynamic or kinetic modeling, expansion of scientific boundaries in nuclear knowledge and processes, optimization, integration, and/or process troubleshooting of current site or DOE-complex processes, nuclear material disposition experimentation, and development of novel waste forms or reclamation processes.
The successful candidate is expected to develop novel solutions and creative proposals to secure additional research funding.
Relevant technical skillsets could include knowledge of advanced chemical characterization techniques, ion exchange, reaction modeling, solvent extraction, nuclear materials processing, and process integration.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

M.S.
with at least 5 yrs.
experience; or Ph.D.
with 2-4 yrs.
experience in Chemical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering
Filtration and/or separation experience
For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required

As the lead laboratory for Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Legacy Management (DOE-LM), SRNL applies our talent and expertise to develop and deploy innovative approaches and technologies to reduce risk, cost, and schedule of environmental cleanup and nuclear material processing.
