• Adair County Health System is searching for a Cardiac Rehab RN.
This is a part-time position Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 8a - 4:
30p.
No weekends, holidays or on call.
Strong knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation and experience with respiratory equipment are the keys to success in this role.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned patients (adult and geriatric).
Works with considerable independence within policy and program guidelines.
Provides professional nursing care incorporating the nursing process, the environment, technical equipment, and other health care members.
Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, AACVPR guidelines, and professional judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Administers nursing care to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation; includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's plan of care in coordination with the physician.
• Provides patient/family education and counseling for identifying risk factors and developing life-style modification pertaining to cardiopulmonary disease and related health issues.
• Supervises other health care members (i.e.
cardiopulmonary specialists, exercise physiologists, interns, etc.).
When needed, triages patients.
Problem-solves with staff, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments.
• Initiates emergency procedures (including cardiopulmonary resuscitation) according to policy.
• Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patient's records.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function and strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner and promote patient safety.
Requirements
Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Completion of an EKG cardiac monitoring class required.
2 years cardiac nursing/pulmonary nursing with EKG monitoring experience and arrhythmia interpretation required.
ACLS required within 12 months for RN's working in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Phase 2 department.
