Associate Director of Advancement Development Officer

Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of Development.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Develops and manage events to strategically engage Media School alumni, particularly those with major gift capacity.
• Events may include alumni receptions in major media markets, on-campus guest speakers, reunions, or anniversary celebrations.
• Manages fall and spring commencement celebrations, as well as coordinating with Media School career services staff and the Walter Center for Career Achievement to plan and implement the annual Media Career Day, which brings alumni to campus for various panel discussions and networking opportunities with students.
• Identifies and develops engagement strategies that provide opportunities for alumni and contributors to be meaningfully involved in the schools mission. This includes board service, mentorship of students, and programs designed to catalyze personal connections with faculty and students.
• Leads and directs all Media School Alumni Board activities.
• Designs and manages the school's distinguished alumni recognition strategy. Oversees the nomination and selection process of the Media School Distinguished Alumni Awards and organizes annual awards banquet.
• Uses advancement data to ensure strategic use of resources when planning and implementing events and initiatives.
• Elevates the school's overall advancement strategy by managing the school's annual campaign and targeted solicitations, establishing a variety of crowdfunding campaigns in response to school needs, and supporting events for current and prospective donors.

General Responsibilities

• Identifies new prospects, cultivates relationships, and manages a portfolio and/or region of donors building a pipeline for solicitation.
• Executes plans and designs campaigns to sustain and increase donations.
• Collaborates with development colleagues university-wide to align prospects/donors' interests with university funding needs and opportunities.
• Maintains meaningful and consistent contact with potential donors to communicate university goals and solicit their support.
• Introduces campus/school fundraisers to appropriate gift prospects for cultivation.
• Documents communications, analyzes data, evaluates success and makes recommendations for change to campaign strategy.

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree in related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 2 years experience in fundraising/development, sales, communications, public relations, a higher education foundation, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between 2 remote work days and 3 in-person work days), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary

Annual Salary: $62,000-$67,000

Work Hours

This position requires occasional travel and supports occasional evening and weekend events on campus.
