Intern - Social Sciences Outreach

Drafting policy briefs and other shorter outreach communications for promoting the sections products and material, primarily on areas including poverty reduction, inequality and social protection, with a focus on people in vulnerable situations such as persons with disabilities, migrants, youth, older persons and women.
Drafting presentation materials and background information for use at relevant events and conferences.
Assisting in organizing and convening meetings/seminars/workshops, including contributing to backgrounds papers and attending to other relevant preparations.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of different opinions and views.
Studies in social science, economics or other relevant areas required.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an another official UN language is desirable.
