This position reports to

Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic leadership and expert legal guidance to ensure the company operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Each day, you will act as a recognized specialist in a complex field of law and provide expert legal services to one or more operating departments.
You will also showcase your expertise by protecting the organization's interests, mitigating legal risks, and fostering a culture of integrity across all business operations, while effectively managing the assigned legal team and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive positive business outcomes.

This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification team of Labor and Employment lawyers in the Europe region and is reporting into the VP Global Head of L&E lawyers of ABB electrification.
You will be mainly accountable for:


Handling Labor & Employment matters across the Europe region, with a strong focus on East and Central Europe countries (e.g.
Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary); opportunity to expand scope further.
Collaborating with EL Division Lead Counsels, Regional General Counsels, Integrity and HR to support EL goals and promote compliance with labor & employment laws.
Providing guidance on both individual and collective labor law matters, investigations, employment framework, organizational changes, M&A and risk mitigation.
Overseeing employment-related disputes and managing a network of outside counsel law firms.
Educating stakeholders, tracking industry trends, facilitating M&A and supporting rolling out labor law projects across EL's footprint.
Enabling accurate risk assessment and providing clear recommendations and approvals, as required, including in connection with public tenders and laws and regulations related to other public administrative bodies, especially with respect to antitrust law.
Understanding key drivers of the business and industry and immersing yourself in the most important business and legal issues facing the company.
Leading legal matters with high exposure for a specific business and the group, including interactions with authorities and big ticket/sensitive litigations.
Identifying risks, external threats, and opportunities to the company proactively, and proposing appropriate strategies.

Qualifications for the role

Qualified Labor & Employment law specialist lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification Labor & Employment Law experience in a major law firm, or in-house or preferably a combination of both.
Experience in working in a diverse and multinational environment providing advice in relation to local or multi-jurisdictional projects.
Proven track record in labor & employment law practice, including strategic decision-making, counseling, investigations, disputes, regulatory audits and M&A as well as organizational changes.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Polish, with additional languages preferred for regional responsibilities.
Resilient, adaptable, detail-oriented, not afraid of conflicts and able to make or influence executive decisions in a changing environment.
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills, work ethic and ethical standards.
Sense of humor is a plus.
