Senior Project Manager

Napier City Council has an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Infrastructure Directorate's Project Management team, responsible for delivering many of Council's infrastructure projects and contracts.
This Senior Project Manager's role is key to Council's planning, organising, leading, and controlling a diverse range of large and complex projects.
Supported by the talented and passionate project management team, you will work with other stakeholders, both external and internal to co-ordinate the delivery of long range and short-term projects.
You will oversee all aspects of the projects lifecycle, including budgets, time and resource planning, and managing the ongoing progress reporting.
Other responsibilities include:


Actively contributing to the leadership of the organisation and strengthening its performance culture
Implementing the development and maturity of NCC Project Management practices and quality
Mentoring and training team members
Managing higher profile / higher risk / or larger projects, involving the coordination of other project management staff, phases of which may be delegated to others
Managing programs of work that are ongoing over multiple years
Attending and presenting at Council Committee meetings as required.

To be considered for the position you will have:


A tertiary qualification in engineering (or equivalent) with substantial experience in project management demonstrating increasing project management maturity
Managed multiple tasks or projects concurrently, with budgets in the hundreds of thousands, to tens of millions of dollars
Experience in leading a project management team.
Delivered substantial sized projects within Local Authorities or Central Government, or the engineering, infrastructure, or construction industry.
An awareness of internal business budget level responsibilities and business performance efficiency metrics.
In addition to your proven project management track record, you will be well versed in mentoring and coaching, to upskill and develop the team as a senior leader within the Council.
