About the role

The Principal Engineer will play a lead role in providing support, advice and guidance to senior management, as well as supporting more junior members of staff.
This role will also lead on the development, review and design, consultation, and delivery of parking related schemes including controlled parking zones and disabled parking provision.
In addition, the role involves responsibility for the delivery of electric vehicle charging points, cycle hangars and dockless cycle parking.
This role will include responsibility of procurement and contract management for works related to the team.

The Parking Policy and Projects team includes 4 permanent vacancies that will work on a range of projects and schemes including controlled parking zones, disabled parking provision and a number of measures to promote use to cycling such as cycle hangars and dockless cycle parking and provision of electric vehicle charging points to help meet growing demand.

About you

You will have a detailed technical knowledge of engineering, including analytical methods, technical standards and methodologies, design principles and techniques as well as a record of successful and consistent delivery of highways or transport projects across at least 2 engineering areas.
You will also have a qualification in Engineering/Transportation to degree level or equivalent with at least three years successful post qualification experience in a practising senior position or 5 years relevant experience
