Birmingham Education Partnership (BEP) is a charity launched in 2013 by Birmingham Headteachers to secure a deeply good education for every child in Birmingham addressing the social and the civic as well as the academic needs of our children. Main purpose of the role

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inclusion Practitioner to join our expanding BEP Inclusion Team. You will work alongside the Director of Inclusion to develop and deliver impactful school improvement projects, collaborating with other teams within the partnership to provide a high-quality service.

This role is perfect for an ambitious, driven, and creative individual who is passionate about supporting schools to improve provision and outcomes for pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Leadership Development:
  Assist schools, networks, consortia, and multi-academy trusts in developing effective leadership of inclusion across their organisations, ensuring alignment with school improvement goals.
• Conduct Reviews and Identify Best Practices:
  Carry out reviews in primary, secondary, and multi-academy trust settings to identify best practices in SEND and inclusive practices, providing clear recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with School Leaders:
  Work with headteachers, governors, SENCOs, and Inclusion Leads to align inclusion practices with high-impact, cost-effective strategies that improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
• Lead Training and Professional Development:
  Design and deliver training and professional development opportunities for SEND leaders, school practitioners, and other staff, enhancing their capacity to support vulnerable pupils.
• Facilitate High-Quality Training:
  Lead training sessions on key areas such as SEND, attendance, and safeguarding, ensuring that staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for inclusive education.
• Conduct Safeguarding Audits:
  Undertake safeguarding audits in schools to ensure compliance with safeguarding standards and identify areas for improvement in school safety practices.

Other duties

• To communicate effectively utilising different vehicles ie letter, email, phone or face to face, with all parties including external agents and/or partners, colleagues and associates at all times.
• The post holder may be required to lead or support other projects as required by the organisation.
• To undertake any other duty as required by the organisation, commensurate with pay grade, skills and experience.

To work with BEP colleagues to:

- Develop a shared knowledge of BEP projects and products, and create opportunities for mutually beneficial linkages between them.

- Provide mutual support to the development, marketing and delivery of all BEP projects and projects.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

• Degree with QTS or equivalent
• Post Graduate certificate in Special Educational Needs Coordination (Desirable but not essential)

Experience and Expertise:

• Significant experience in SEND and inclusive education within mainstream and/or specialist settings
• Proven track record of supporting schools to improve inclusion and SEND provision.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices and school improvement strategies.

Leadership and Communication Skills:

• Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, governors, and teaching staff.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and inspire change at all levels within schools.

Training and Development:

• Experience in leading and facilitating training sessions for staff at all levels.
• Ability to tailor professional development to meet the specific needs of schools and practitioners.

Commitment to Vulnerable Pupils:

• A strong commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable and SEND pupils.
• Knowledge of the challenges faced by pupils with SEND and strategies to support their success.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of projects and initiatives.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and engage effectively with various stakeholders, including school leaders, staff, and external partners.
• Capable of working independently and taking initiative to drive improvements in inclusion practices across schools.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, and adults, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
• In-depth understanding of the education system, both locally and nationally, including current policies, trends, and best practices in SEND and inclusion.
• A strong commitment to continuous professional development, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
• Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach to contributing to the objectives and success of BEP
• Proficiency in using various IT tools and software to manage information, deliver training, and communicate ef.
