The Team
Indigenous Health and Reconciliation (IHR) works alongside Indigenous partners to address Indigenous-specific racism and improve the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples in B.C. IHR provides Indigenous-led strategic priorities, legislation, policy and program development in the Ministry of Health, and cross-government where appropriate. The IHR works in partnership with the First Nations Health Authority, Métis Nation B.C., urban Indigenous partners, Indigenous Services Canada, Office of the Provincial Health Officer, B.C. health authorities, provincial ministries and agencies, and other health system partners. IHR also guides the Ministry in its own journey to embed cultural safety and humility, antiracism and upholding Indigenous human rights throughout Ministry initiatives, structures and processes.

The Role
Reporting to the Director, the Policy Analyst is accountable for working with key government and Indigenous partners around the province to support the implementation of the 24 recommendations from the In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous-specific racism in B.C. Health Care report. This position coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and legislation for this significant ministry program.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of *related work experience; OR
Diploma and 3 years of *related work experience; OR
Certificate or coursework and 4 years of *related work experience; OR
Secondary graduation or equivalent and 6 years of *related work experience; OR
Applicants who are determined by the panel to possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Related work experience must include the following:
Working on First Nations, Métis, Inuit and/or Indigenous health and wellness initiatives.
Managing complex projects and/or project components.
Conducting research and analysis related to complex issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
Demonstrated work experience with Indigenous leadership, communities and/or Indigenous organizations.
Experience working with internal and external partners on issues of shared priority.
Experience developing documents to support senior leadership including briefing notes, discussion papers, fact sheets, correspondence, and other materials.
Experience working in a professional workplace, including the public sector or health system.
Have participated in the BC Public Service Agency Indigenous Youth Internship Program.
Extensive experience working with First Nations and/or Métis communities and Indigenous organizations.

About this Position:
There are two (2) full time regular position available.
We offer flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to telework (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies. This may be performed in other approved locations within the Province of BC.
