Key responsibilities include building strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with employment laws, conducting investigations, managing grievances and arbitrations.Key objectives:
Promoting a positive work environment by fostering trust, respect, and inclusivity between management and employees.Providing tailored, practical advice and hands-on support to other non-profits and charities with their labour relations needs.Creating a comprehensive digital repository of labour relations tools accessible to YMCAs across Canada.Conducting effective work investigations into employee complaints or misconduct while managing labour relations matters.Some of the tasks of this position include:
Labour Relations Administering and interpreting collective agreements and managing employee relations issues.Ensuring compliance with employment laws through audits and proactive solutions.Conducting investigations and collaborating with managers on performance management.Supporting health and safety activities and preparing for arbitration cases.
Collaborative Labour Relations Providing tailored advice and support to YMCAs and charities with their labour relations needs.Creating a digital repository of labour relations tools accessible to YMCAs and charities.
Work Investigations Leading thorough investigations into employee complaints and misconduct.Maintaining confidentiality and documenting findings.Providing guidance and support to managers and employees throughout the investigation process.
People and Culture Administration and Legal Compliance Assisting in developing and communicating HR policies.Reviewing and updating policies and providing employee training.Preparing HR letters ensuring accuracy and compliance.Developing and updating job descriptions across the Association.What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?The successful candidate will have the following:
EducationPost-secondary Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources, or an undergraduate degree in Labour Relations or a related field.LanguageFluent in English, oral and written.Bilingualism is an asset.Experience, Skills and Abilities5 years of experience in Labour Relations within a unionized and non-unionized environment.Strong knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and Employment Standards Act.Experience with collective agreements and grievance management.Experience in conducting employee investigations.Solid background in HRIS.Additional Requirements:
Applicants must have a valid permit to work in Canada.A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.Staff must complete mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth annually.Core Competencies:
