This position fosters self-esteem as well as problem solving and conflict resolution skills in program participants, while working to create an atmosphere of safety, belonging and positive development in accordance with Y policies and procedures.Some of the tasks of this position include:
Leading and participating in all programs.Delivering programming based on skill level and age of participants.Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.Being responsible for the safety, supervision and security of all participants.Developing and maintaining an open, constructive and professional relationship with program participants, caregivers, volunteers, co-workers and supervisors.What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?The successful candidate will have the following:
LanguageAbility to work in EnglishBilingualism is an assetExperience, Skills and AbilitiesNational Lifeguard Certification, Bronze Cross, Paddle Canada, CUI or other relevant certifications will be strongly considered as assetsWell-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteersAbility to maintain calm demeanor in stressful situationsCommitment to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members.Additional RequirementsApplicants must be 16 years old by June 23, 2025.Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.Core Competencies:
