We are seeking a Senior Associate with experience across complex leasing and capital transactions with the ability to manage matters with autonomy.

Our property practice is amongst the leading property practices in Australia. Our Sydney team works with clients on a range of matters including complex leasing, capital transactions and land acquisitions and sales for development.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our busy and high performing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior lawyer seeking to undertake broad and complex property work within a role offering autonomy to run matters in a supportive team. You will have the opportunity to work on matters for some of Australia's leading real estate investment trusts, across its retail and office portfolios.

About you

Given the range of work and the current team structure, we require a lawyer who has at least 5 years' post admission experience and who has a proven track record of running matters with minimal supervision. More specifically your experience will include:

• Drafting and negotiating agreements for lease and subleases
• Drafting and negotiating commercial office leases, including drafting complex and bespoke arrangements
• Capital transactions, including drafting and negotiating contracts for sale (commercial properties and development sites)
• Conducting property due diligence and preparing due diligence reports
• Advising on easements

Experience in renewable energy transactions would be beneficial but is not essential.

To be successful in this position you will possess the following:

• Currently a Senior Associate in a busy property practice
• Experienced in running files from instruction through to completion
• Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail
• Solid negotiation skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to mentor more junior lawyers / paralegals in the team
• Ability to work independently and proactively, and as well as supporting others in the team
