Calamvale Community College has a vacancy for a dedicated Guidance Officer to work within a team of 3 Guidance Officers at our P-12 College.
This position will focus on working within the secondary space (years 7-12) and will work directly with students in addition to collaborating with a student's teachers, school support personnel, family, other specialists, or external support providers.

About the Role

The position of Guidance Officer at Calamvale Community College will suit an applicant with an interest in working in a culturally diverse school community with opportunities for proactive support as well as targeted responsive support for our learners. Our staff are currently reshaping the wider support services structure in the College to ensure an individualised case management approach.

As the Guidance Officer, you will:

• Provide professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes.
• Collaboratively negotiate, develop, and implement programs for students that focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional, and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.

Guidance Officers contribute towards, and are accountable for the provision of a comprehensive student support program that is responsive to the identified and changing needs of students. The program will be negotiated with and authorised by a line manager, usually the Principal.

Guidance Officers are required to participate in regular clinical and technical supervision with a Senior Guidance Officer or their nominee, to ensure the provision of ongoing professional support and development.
