Community Safety Partner

Permanent Part Time

The position involves the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies or programs aimed at reducing crime and increasing the safety of residents in Albury by developing partnerships with the police, external service providers, government organisations and the community. The position will have a strong focus on supporting the deployment, monitoring and reporting of CCTV services managed by AlburyCity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, strategies and procedures in relation to CCTV in public places.
• Support the deployment of Council's CCTV Mobile Trailer across Albury in line with established protocols.
• Work with other members of the Community Safety Team, including other internal and external stakeholders to provide a highly effective, efficient and responsive CCTV monitoring and reporting system for Council's CCTV networks.
• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate plans and strategies such as the:

• Graffiti Management Plan
• Crime Prevention Plan

• Albury Liquor Accord
• Crime Prevention Committee
• Community Drug Action Team - CDAT
• Domestic Violence Network

• Based on a 35 hour week, working a minimum of 21 hours over 3 days per week.
• On occasions there will be a requirement to attend meetings and events outside of normal business hours.
• This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handling activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
• This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity's Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
• This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act.
• This position requires the incumbent to successfully gain and hold a NSW Class 1E Security Licence.
• This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children's Check.
• This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
• This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots as required.

• Tertiary qualification in Social Science, Welfare, Criminology/Social justice, Community Development or related fields or relevant work experience.
• Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain).
• NSW Security Licence Class 1E - Monitoring Centre Operator (compulsory to have and maintain).

• Ability to drive, manoeuvre and park a trailer.

• Relevant experience supporting and consulting with community-based organisations.

• Demonstrated experience in promoting, implementing and evaluating community projects, ideally in crime prevention and community development.
• A sound knowledge of project management.
• Ability to analyse demographic and statistical data.
• Ability to interpret legislation.
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
• Demonstrated ability in preparing and submitting grant applications.
• Sound knowledge and ability to develop policy.
• Knowledge of the operations of CCTV and its impact on the hosting organisation and the community.
