Question 57 / 58:  What does (at least in the short term) use of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors do?
They inhibit the enzyme alpha glucosidase which digests oligosaccharides into glucose and momosaccharides. Inhibition of these enzymes causes a decreased rate of digestion of these carbohydrates = less glucose is absorbed = decrease in current blood glucose levels.
