This module describes the strategy used by Dr. José Colucci, PE to migrate to the CHEME Design courses (I,II) the CIVIS Financial Literacy module developed by Dr. Jeffry Valentín. Both courses include understanding financial analysis as an integral component of its main objective.
Objectives
- To provide the students with a basic understanding regarding personal and commercial financial analysis focusing on the Income Statement. This includes key concepts such as:
- Variable costs
- Fixed Costs
- Other Costs
- Margins (Variable, Fixed and Other)
- Margins Percentage of Sales
- Depreciation
- Earnings before and after taxes
- To provide STEM students with the tools to understand the similarities and differences between personal and commercial financial analysis.
