Diffuse infiltrates in the periphery of both lungs, with relative sparing of the perihilar regions, is characteristic ofeosinophilic pneumonia. This patient’s total leukocyte count was 18,000/ with 20% eosinophils. After a week of corticosteroid therapy alone, his symptoms, radiographic abnormalities, and eosinophiliaresolved.
