As our Tax Advisory Manager, you'll combine high-level professional skill with client-facing charm, focusing on building relationships and keeping your team sharp. You'll review work, set expectations, have agility and ease with technology, and also be a leader. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Managing between $500,000-800,000 in revenue of client work
• Developing meaningful professional relationships with:
• Our clients: listening, understanding, and determining the best strategies to support their current needs and long-term goals and vision
• Team members: effectively communicating to clarify work expectations, timing, and overall capacity, and mentor and grow professional soft skills
• Collaborative partners (attorneys, business coaches, financial advisor): developing relationships for possible client referrals
• Taking the lead on high-level technical work, making judgment calls on how best to handle relational and/or technical situations, and backing up interpretation of technical research
• Performing other related duties and project work as assigned
• Opportunities for additional creative (non-client work) contributions, such as:
• Identifying process development opportunities for efficiency, clarity, and client service excellence
• Attending industry conferences and trade shows as part of business development team to learn about new technology, meet prospective collaborative partners, develop relationships with potential future clients
• Spearheading suggested improvements or expansion to support Encurio's culture, marketing, operations, etc.

• Meet with team in the morning to organize day/week
• Read new tax law bills/newsletters and keep team updated
• Meet with client and their financial advisor to discuss tax and retirement planning
• Train staff on how to do a 1031 exchange in Lacerte
• Review Senior Accountant's work for quality assurance, and coaching and supporting their oversight of staff accountants

• Technical Skills + Experience:
  • Real estate tax strategies: depreciation, manual cost segregation studies, 1031 exchange reporting, aggregating, ST vs LT qualifications
  • California tax law
  • Foreign tax reporting: FBAR, Form 8938, GILTI
  • Form 3115 Request for Change in Accounting Method
  • Nexus studies and multi-state apportionment
  • CPA or EA license, or eligibility and willingness to pursue either designation if not already obtained, preferred
  • 5+ years of recent tax preparation experience in public accounting or CAS firm required
  • 3+ years of recent experience reviewing tax returns required
  • 4-5+ tax seasons of substantial client-facing strategic tax planning, advisory and/or consulting experience strongly preferred
  • Overall generalist with extensive technical tax (pass-through entity tax preparation, understanding tax strategies, retirement plans, etc. ) and accounting knowledge required
  • Degree in accounting or a related field preferred, but not required
  • We're willing to train on the following, but bonus points for experience with:
    • Real estate tax strategies: depreciation, manual cost segregation studies, 1031 exchange reporting, aggregating, ST vs LT qualifications
    • California tax law
    • Foreign tax reporting: FBAR, Form 8938, GILTI
    • Form 3115 Request for Change in Accounting Method
    • Nexus studies and multi-state apportionment

• Professional + Soft Skills + Interests:
  • Passion for managing and developing junior accounting team members
  • Innate excitement, energy, and desire to connect with other humans and demonstrated client retention experience
  • Professional Zoom presence
  • Experience and comfort utilizing cloud-based accounting software and tools like Notion, Slack, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Experience with and understanding of GAAP a plus
  • Ability and commitment to uphold values, garner respect, and lead challenging, direct conversations with grace and inclusion

• Annual full-time salary: $100,000-$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience
• Unlimited PTO. and we expect you to use it. We believe in balance (not burnout). Take your time, stay accountable.
