The West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery, is seeking a Neurosurgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

We offer a full service neurosurgery practice at Wheeling Hospital. We continue to expand, and the demand for our services is high. Three WVU Medicine neurosurgeons are currently in the practice, and they carry a full faculty appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

Duties: Successful candidate will practice in the area of neurosurgery. In additional to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible for state medical licensure. Candidates must have completed a neurosurgery residency program and be board eligible/certified in neurosurgery. All qualifications must be met by time of appointment.

As a full member of the health system, Wheeling Hospital is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio.

Wheeling Hospital has served the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio, and parts of Pennsylvania longer than any other hospital in the state. It is a Level 2 trauma center, has 247 beds, and the medical staff totals 230 primary care and specialty physicians. In addition to the hospital, the complex includes the Continuous Care Center, the Wheeling Renal Care, and the Howard Long Wellness Center. Connected to the hospital are four medical office buildings where 80 physicians have their private offices.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute guides a team of 280 dedicated faculty in providing compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach in the many diverse communities we serve. The Institute spearheads efforts to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions ranging from Alzheimer's to Parkinson's; autism to stroke; and paralysis to chronic pain, addictions, and traumatic brain injury.

Wheeling is an historic city in the Northern panhandle of WV on the Ohio River. Wheeling's cultural community includes the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra which offers entertainment state-wide and educational outreach programs for students of all ages. The Oglebay Institute includes art and dance studios, classrooms, galleries, theatres and museums. From hundreds of fairs and festivals to arts and culture, there is something for everyone.
