Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week, 18:45-07:15, rotating weekends and holidays
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of critical care experience required
License: Required for submission
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Must-Have:
• Arterial line experience
• Post-Femoral Popliteal procedure experience
• Post-Endarterectomy care experience
• Patient care unit with 11-12 beds, expanding with ICU expansion
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Handle post-op vascular patients, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, sepsis, renal patients, stable acute MI, unstable angina, and post-cardiac cath patients
• ICU skill set required for floating to ICU or Stepdown: includes Bipap, Cpap, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and critical drips
• Experience with post-cardiac cath care required
• CRRT and IABP experience preferred
• RNs required to titrate insulin, cardizem, heparin, amiodarone, and low-dose dopamine drips
• Collaborate with charge nurse ICU, assigned charge nurse, and house supervisor available 24/7
• Support from nurse aids with one patient care technician (C.N.A) for every 10 patients
• Familiarity with equipment such as Cpap, Bipap, high-flow O2, mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy, specialty beds, and IV pumps
• Monitor tech available 24/7 for telemetry, RNs read strips
• Rotate every other weekend and holidays
• Required to float to Med-Surg Telemetry if not needed in ICU or Stepdown; also to Emergency Department to care for boarded PCU or ICU patients
• Dress code: navy scrubs for RNs/LPNs; dark grey/pewter for Techs, solid colors with no embroidery/patterns, specific solid color options for fleece and undershirts, close-toed shoes required, crocs not permitted
• Orientation: Includes hospital, nursing, and computer training. Two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor and an abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist due 90 days from start
• Charting System: Meditech/EPIC
