Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred Must-Have:
Overall strong Neuro experience
- Work on a 20-bed unit with 14 floor beds and 6 stepdown beds.
• Patient ratios are typically 1:
5-6 for floor patients.
• The unit specializes in neurosciences, including Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS), stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and other neurological disorders.
• Titration of drips is conducted by physician's orders in a step-down setting; education will be provided if needed.
Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin.
• Work under the supervision of a Charge Nurse available 24/7.
• Collaborate with nurse aides, with ratios typically around 1:
7-10.
• Respiratory Therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is available 24/7, with no requirement for RN vent experience.
• Use the tele monitoring system; monitor techs read strips, and RNs document verification in Epic.
• Flexible scheduling with the possibility of working three shifts in a row.
• Compliance with weekend and holiday requirements as specified.
• Potential for floating to other units within the facility.
• Dress code:
any combination of white and royal blue scrubs.
• Unit-specific orientation of one shift is provided.
• Utilize the EPIC charting system.
