WVU Medicine - West Virginia University Health System is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Strategic Planning function to guide the vision and strategic direction of the organization. The Director, Enterprise Strategic Planning will provide valued strategic insights, trusted advice, and skill execution that elevate WVUHS's impact in West Virginia and beyond. This position will play an important role in supporting these objectives, both on the clinical side (hospitals, physician groups, ancillary services) and health plan side (Peak Health and other lines of business).

The Director will manage the strategic planning team (Manager, Specialist, Analysts) to provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to support key strategic decisions at the enterprise and regional level. Under the supervision of the CSO, the Director will lead the development of the annual strategic plan for the health system as well as its health plan (Peak Health). In addition, the Director will ensure that the strategic plan cascades across all member hospitals and related entities to ensure strategic alignment across the enterprise. Working with system IT and analytics, the Director will also expand and leverage market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

Master's degree in health care administration, accounting, finance, business administration, or other relevant field.

EXPERIENCE:

Eight years health care experience in a large, complex health system and/or health plan, including at least five years of experience in strategic planning, business development, or similar function.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience in managed care strategic planning or strategic planning within an Integrated Delivery and Financing System.

Support the enterprise Chief Strategy Officer to identify growth opportunities and develop strategic plans with a focus on creating value-based healthcare delivery programs.

Inform strategy and business development through both qualitative and quantitative market assessments including market share, service line assessments, financial analysis, and other industry research.

Develop presentations that effectively communicate strategic initiatives and business plans in a clear and captivating manner.

Support key leaders in the development of business plans for strategic initiatives.

Act as a key liaison between clinical leaders, hospital executives, and others, and ensure a tight linkage between the organization's efforts and its strategic goals. Serve as a key champion of the organization's strategic priorities to internal constituents through formal and informal communications.

Demonstrate strategic thinking and effectiveness by identifying future needs and problem areas, developing workable solutions, and following through to action.

Oversee strategic planning department staff, oversee growth of the department, and manage department budget.

Evaluate and prioritize strategic opportunities. Work with IT strategic analytics to ensure effective and impactful analytics, provide business insight into implications of findings.

This role will work with matrixed plan stakeholders to achieve better outcomes, quality, margin targets, operational excellence, and compliance.

Interact with IT and population health in the development of strategies required to succeed in value-based care and population health.

Define projects, develop project plans, and set priorities for working teams. Engage external stakeholders. Keep projects focused and on track. Plan and facilitate meetings.

Maintain personal development program to improve professional and business skills necessary for high level performance within the position. Attend meetings and seminars to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and apply information as appropriate.
