Position Title: Shift Maintenance - Mechanic

Location: Whiting, WI

Description:

Our Shift Maintenance supports Mativ's Sustainable and Adhesive Solutions (SAS) team for Neenah Inc., a Mativ company ("Mativ"). This individual will support to supports the paper machines, converting lines, and general mill needs. The mill is a 24/7 operation. This position works a 12-hour 6P-6A shift and must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

The ideal candidate must have a safety mindset with a can do attitude and initiative.

responsibilities:

Ensure that manufacturing and converting processes are maintained in a preventative fashion to ensure optimum reliability and up time
Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment and troubleshoot problems while applying theory and related knowledge to install, rebuild, or repair equipment as needed
Assist with all service calls while on duty and take call ins as necessary to ensure production operation
Ensure all required tools, parts and supplies are available for each job performed, complete required service records and be responsible for recommending and/or initiating equipment modifications and/or replacement of components

Responsible for understanding, maintaining and troubleshooting:

Analytical process troubleshooting including mechanical print reading and using troubleshooting manuals
Machine shop working knowledge
Troubleshooting machine pneumatic, hydraulic control, pump and general mechanical problems
Working ability with all hand and power tools; e.g., saws, drills, planers, pipe bender, pipe threader, etc.

Essential Job Functions include:

Ability to respond to call-ins as necessary
Ability to maintain acceptable attendance
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
Ability to bend, kneel, squat and stoop
Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and equipment training manuals
Ability to accurately read and record data
Ability to climb stairs and work from steps, ladders, scaffolds, mobile lifts and elevator platforms
Ability to operate/use manual and powered material handling equipment such as a pickup truck, hand dolly, chain fall, chain hoist, electric hoist, tractor, truck and heavy equipment as needed
Ability to work in extreme temperatures when necessary
Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary
Ability to work on and around moving equipment
Ability to lift/move weights of up to fifty (50) pounds
Ability to learn and utilize PC based systems

qualifications:

Required

A minimum of 4 years' experience
Journeyman card and/or state license
Preference will be given to individuals with advanced mechanical education and experience in an industrial environment
Possess technical/problem solving skills
Contribute in a team environment to meet our business objectives

Position Demands

Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:

Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.

Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:

Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
Safety Glasses
Hearing Protection
Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
Bump Caps, when necessary
Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.

While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:

• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Be able to push up to 108 pounds or pull heavy objects up to 60 pounds.

• Be able to work 8-, 12-, or 16-hour shift.

• Perform repetitive tasks.

• Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.

• Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.

• Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

• Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate powered industrial trucks.

The Shift Maintenance rate for this position is $44.09 per hour.
