Position Purpose:

Under supervision, and on a rotating shift and relief basis, performs duties of assigned position within a wastewater treatment plant setting. Work is performed in an industrial environment with frequent, unavoidable exposure in temperatures, fumes, noise, dust, wet, odors and gases. Work is performed on rotating shifts.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
Under supervision, monitor and control equipment listed below whose monitoring devices and control are located in the Central Control Room and the operating floor within the Powerhouse building Equipment:
- Gas turbine control panel.
- Supervisory control board.
- Electrical switchboards.
- Dispatch board.
- Computer Control system.
- Operate communications center: handle incoming and outgoing mobile communications, answer and channel incoming plant calls.
- Visually inspect above listed equipment and operate same equipment by local control, when necessary, maintain log sheets and change charts on a fixed time schedule. Adjust systems and controlled equipment to meet management and operational requirements.
- Respond to equipment problems: shutting down, starting up, standby, and requesting maintenance as appropriate.
- Maintain record of equipment status.
- Assist in training of personnel.
- Cogeneration startup, if necessary.
- Performs other duties of similar level and nature as assigned.
Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.
Relief Responsibilities
- Operating Engineer IV.
- Operating Engineer III.
- Operating Engineer II.
- Operational Maintenance Person.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

QualificationsEducation/Experience/Background:

High School Diploma/GED is required.
Four years of experience operating Power-House equipment in plants containing high pressure boilers.
Four years of experience of operating turbines or generators.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

Valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.
ASOPE First Class Operating Permit is a MUST.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
