Job Summary:
The Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an Associate Director for Professional Development to lead professional development programming for graduate students with a focus on skill development, student lifecycle and transitions, and special projects related to graduate student programming and systems within the Office of Professional Development and Communication.
Competitive candidates will have creativity in professional development program design, proven success managing large events and/or projects, ability to learn and adapt to new technology, ability to identify and cultivate key partnerships across a large institution, and a passion for supporting graduate student skill development. The position will contribute knowledge and insight into the professional development-related needs of graduate students within UW-Madison's decentralized graduate education landscape, working to identify and strategically address gaps.
This position is part of the Graduate School's Office of Professional Development and Communications, which includes the Delta Program. The professional development team coordinates, develops, and promotes learning opportunities to foster the academic and professional skills of UW-Madison's 11,000+ master's and doctoral students.
Responsibilities:
Provides guidance for program planning, implementation, and evaluation, and/or supervises outreach staff.
Monitors budget and appropriate funding for programming.
Promotes stable and productive relationships between the university and community.
Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
40% Supervises the implementation of outreach-program-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives.
10% Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan.
10% Monitors the unit or program budget and approves program expenditures.
10% Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services.
10% Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan.
20% Develops and supports infrastructure and systems, such as competency frameworks, skills self-assessments, and events registration and management systems.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of experience (professionally and/or as a graduate student employee) implementing programs or developing and managing events.
• Minimum 2 years of experience (professionally and/or as a graduate student employee) working with graduate student populations, including master's, doctoral, and/or professional students.

This is a hybrid position that requires some work be performed in-person on campus, with the flexibility for some remote work. In-person vs. remote work expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Salary:
Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications.
