Position Purpose

Reporting to the Finance Deputy Director or Controller, the Senior Account Technician performs general accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions including answering inquiries from county personnel and outside vendors regarding payments and performs other office/clerical functions in support of department objectives.

Hours: Full Time position-Daytime shift between the hours of 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM with possibilities of overtime

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Performs accounting procedures in general operation of the Finance Department.
  • Assists in the preparation of accounting reports, schedules and analysis for the operation of the Finance Department.
  • Generate customer invoices, track payments and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Enters journal entries into the general ledger; uploads cash receipts; enters daily accounts receivable receipts; and prepares vouchers.
  • Processes upload of cash receipts and Accounts Receivable payments
  • Prepares monthly sales tax report and prepares entry for ACH payment.
  • Reconciles procurement card statement and charges, creating entries for departments.
  • Reconciles quarterly mileage reports.
  • Assists the Purchasing Coordinator in administering the County's procurement card system.
  • Answers questions about purchasing, travel, and various county policies and procedures and ensures compliance, which includes review of travel documents.
  • Prepares quotation requests and makes recommendations to departments for equipment, supplies, and other consumables.
  • Assists in the processing of accounts payable
  • Assists in budget preparation, the annual audit and other special projects.
  • Answering financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining organized financial documents and records.
  • As necessary, performs basic office tasks including answering phones; processing department mail; typing, copying, and faxing.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements
  • Associate degree in accounting or business administration with at least one to three years of accounts receivable experience.
  • Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to conform to goals, policies, and procedures of the Department as well as the Outagamie County Work Rules and Terms of Employment.
