POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Lead plays a critical role within our operations team as an individual who is cross-trained in all warehouse functions and responsibilities. This position acts as a mentor to fellow team members and provides training and coaching to achieve organizational goals. This is a labor-intensive position that requires heavy lifting. Individuals are regularly on their feet throughout the day. Safety is a priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable in all functions of the warehouse operation. Cross-train in all skill sets and backfill positions as needed to achieve organizational and operational goals.
Work with team and operations leadership to analyze and resolve minor challenges, develop and implement improvements, and maintain a safe work environment.
Assist in on-boarding of new employees to the warehouse. Assist with training and mentoring of all employees to further develop and build an established and experienced warehouse team.
Keep designated work areas supplied with material, piling or stacking materials safely in designed locations.
Work to maintain a safe and clean environment while achieving department productivity goals. Adhere to OrePac's policies, procedures, and safety program. Play an active role in fostering an environment of safe work practices and employee engagement.
Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Prepare and maintain records of amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
Upload, move, and store a variety of materials, parts or products. Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Use an RF gun to fill orders from storage areas and warehouse stock and deliver to designated department or to shipping preparation area.
Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing station or shipping department.
Forklift duties may be assigned to this position. Any assigned forklift duties will first require taking and passing a forklift training course and obtaining a certificate. Forklift duties will include staging and/or stacking material neatly and safely, operating the forklift in a safe manner, filling the forklift with propane fuel, and regularly checking the forklift fluid levels.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring fellow employees or teammates to achieve developmental growth.
Ability to problem solve minor challenges within the department utilizing the tools and resources available and escalate the matter to a supervisor or manager when appropriate.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
Ability to adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated by OrePac's safety program. Ability to perform all essential responsibilities of job in a safe manner.
Ability to compute basic math problems to include addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Mechanical aptitude. Experience with hand tools, power tools, and the ability to read a tape measure.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team or individually with minimal supervision while achieving quality and timely completion of assigned tasks to achieve customer satisfaction.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
At least 1 year of related experience in a warehouse environment (preferred).
Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Regularly reach with hands and arms.
Regularly lift/move/manipulate up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
Regularly steer, reach, and handle dunnage if forklift operation duties are assigned to the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate/loud.
The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
DRESS CODE:
All employees are expected to wear clothing appropriate for the nature of OrePac business and the type of work being performed. Clothing should be tasteful.
