SUMMARY

The Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Infrastructure and Operations leads the Office of Infrastructure and Operations within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), in the Office of the Secretary (OST) at the U.S.
Department of Transportation (DOT).

This leadership role is responsible for directing enterprise-wide IT infrastructure services, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that support the Department's mission-critical operations and strategic objectives.

About the Office of Infrastructure and Operations

The Office of Infrastructure and Operations provides and manages the full range of commodity, enterprise-wide IT Shared Services that enable Department of Transportation (DOT) program offices to carry out mission activities, including help desk, network, server, storage, desktop, Cloud, email, wireless/mobile, telephony, Internet, telecommunications, data center management, disaster recovery, and all other infrastructure/platform commodity IT offerings, including assistive technologies.

JOB DUTIES

• Leadership and Technical Direction:
  Provides strategic and technical leadership for a modern, high-performance, and secure IT infrastructure that aligns with the mission and operational requirements of the Office of the Secretary (OST) and DOT Operating Administrations.
• Resource Management:
  Ensures efficient and cost-effective management of the organization's commodity IT resources, optimizing their use to support departmental goals and priorities.
• Service Delivery Excellence:
  Oversees the timely and reliable delivery of IT services, maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
• Strategic IT Leadership:
  Serves as the premier IT services expert within the organization, providing authoritative guidance and insight on enterprise-level IT infrastructure initiatives and emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a basic requirement for entry into the Senior Executive Service (SES), you must clearly articulate and describe within your five (5) page resume evidence of progressively responsible supervisory, managerial, or professional experience which involved management of a program or organization of significant scope and complexity.

  Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of pertinent federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidance affecting transportation IT, or a related industry, and technical knowledge sufficient to understand laws, regulations, policies, and guidance fully.
