Enterprise Engineering:
This role is part of Enterprise Program Management (EPM), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing.
EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of materials engineers and technicians you will support our laboratory efforts to provide excellent research,development,and quality assurance testing for various spaceflight systems.You will need to be flexible and eager to learn.
The materials that you will help develop will provide essential thermal protection for space vehicles.

Your primary responsibility will be to support the efforts of our Thermal Protection Systems and Composites laboratories, which will include helping with sample preparation, operating instruments, and interacting with a wide variety of colleagues and customers.You will see this as a career opportunity to gain skills and expertise as a strong laboratory technician.

Qualifications:

At least 5 years of laboratory support ina composite environment
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Create and execute industry standard material allowables testing
Conduct quality assurance material testing on Process Verification parts
Develop and execute test procedures related to integrated structural verification tests
Material cure cycle development
Operate or support specialized equipment such as large vacuum ovens, resin transfer systems, furnaces, inspection cameras, CNC router, saw, and water jet
Strong organizational skills
Develop and execute test procedures and test planes for sub-scale primary structures joints
Experience in bonding and materials testing including surface prep, primer application, mixing and applying silicones/epoxies.
Experience in machining/trimming composite and metallic materials
Order needed materials according to user needs and predetermined budget
Ability to work flexible shifts, some weekends
Common computer tools - excel, word, and PowerPoint
Good attention to detail
Ability to troubleshoot and perform under critical situations
Hands on lab work
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Desired:

Flight integration Operate, maintain, and manage the schedule of a large high-temperature inert gas/vacuum furnace
Experience with Data Acquisition Systems
Composite prepreg materials and layup schedules
Familiarity with ASTM standards and various material test protocols
A bachelor's degree in Materials Science or 3 years of experience in the skill
Aerospace Experience
5-S Experience
AS9100
Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $29.03-$40.65 Other site ranges may differ
