About the job:
• Assessing the patient's physical, communication and cognitive skills to develop a treatment plan
• Giving advice and providing support for family members and Carers
• Assessing the home, school and work environments of the patient
• Installing the necessary equipment in the classroom for children with disabilities and teaching them how to use the equipment
• Helping children and adult patients to take part in everyday activities based on their unique circumstances
• Assisting patients' exercise for pain relief
• Reviewing the patient's progress and adapting the treatment accordingly
• Performing administrative tasks such as keeping records, writing reports and making telephone calls
Qualifications:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy
State licensure as an Occupational Therapist
NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification
CPR certified
General Purpose:
An Occupational Therapist (OT) helps individuals across the lifespan to engage in meaningful daily activities, or \"occupations,\" despite physical, mental, or developmental challenges. OTs evaluate patients' abilities and limitations and develop personalized treatment plans that may include exercises, adaptive techniques, and environmental modifications. They work with patients in settings like hospitals, schools, clinics, and rehabilitation centers to improve motor skills, social skills, and functional independence, supporting a better quality of life and overall well-being.
