Position Summary:
Provide direct supervision of a group of diverse children. Provide a quality, safe, positive and inclusive experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values:
honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Supervise a group of children to ensure their health, safety and to provide a positive experience for each child
Implement program activities that are age and developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values
Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child's experience and to promote upcoming programs
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum age 16
Plan and initiate culturally relevant and age appropriate games and activities
Fluency in second language desired

Physical Demands:

As directed, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of settings. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. Staff may occasionally lift children who weigh approximately 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; may use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with members, staff, volunteers, and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied individuals.

Requirements

This Position will be 15-30 hours a week as needed. Hours will vary for program needs, Monday through Friday 8:
30AM-12:
30PM shifts and 4:
00-7:
30PM shifts and will need to be available to work Saturdays 9:
00AM-1:
30PM. Shifts for this position are 3-4 evenings a week from 4:
00-7:
30PM, some morning shifts as needed 8:
30AM-12:
30PM, 2-3 Saturdays a month and once a month Kid's Night Out on Saturday from 4:
00-8:
30PM.
