Position Title: Voice Engineer
Location: Alpharetta, GA
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Voice Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and troubleshooting of voice communication systems, specifically Cisco-based solutions, 8x8 phone systems, and various associated applications such as 2Ring, Finesse, and Jabber. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with enterprise voice systems and will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless voice communication services across the organization.
responsibilities:
System Design & Implementation:
Plan, configure, and deploy Cisco-based Unified Communications solutions, including Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unified Contact Center (CUCX), Cisco Unity, Cisco Emergency Responder, RedSky and related systems.
Deploy and configure voice-related applications such as 2Ring, Finesse, and Jabber for end-users.
Ensure voice and data network integration for optimal performance and user experience.
Implement and maintain 8x8 cloud-based voice solutions.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Provide 2nd/3rd level support for voice systems, diagnosing and resolving issues related to Cisco IP telephony, 8x8 services, Jabber, Finesse, and 2Ring.
Work closely with internal teams to resolve service outages, voice quality issues, and system failures.
Use monitoring tools to proactively identify potential issues and take corrective actions before they impact users.
System Maintenance & Upgrades:
Perform regular maintenance tasks on Cisco and 8x8 systems, including patching, upgrades, and firmware updates.
Ensure that all voice solutions are compliant with company security standards and best practices.
Collaborate with vendors to manage system maintenance and support agreements.
Configuration & Integration:
Configure and maintain IP phones, voice gateways, and devices across multiple sites.
Ensure seamless integration between Cisco Call Manager, 8x8 systems, and other communication tools.
Administer Cisco Jabber client configurations, user provisioning, and troubleshooting.
Documentation & Reporting:
Document voice system configurations, network designs, and operational procedures.
Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, knowledge base articles, and training documentation.
Prepare and deliver regular reports on system performance, uptime, and usage analytics.
Collaboration & Training:
Collaborate with network, IT, and security teams to ensure voice system performance and security.
Provide training and support for end-users, including call handling, Jabber usage, and troubleshooting basic issues.
Assist with onboarding new employees and ensure they have the necessary voice communication tools.
qualifications:
Experience:
3+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications solutions (CUCM, Unity, CUCX, Jabber, etc.).
2+ years of experience managing and supporting 8x8 cloud-based phone systems.
Proficient in working with voice applications such as 2Ring, Finesse, and Jabber.
Experience with voice gateways, SIP trunking, and VoIP technologies.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of IP telephony, VoIP, and SIP protocols.
Experience with call routing, call flows, and system configuration.
Familiarity with network configurations affecting voice performance (QoS, VLANs, etc.).
Ability to troubleshoot voice system issues using diagnostic tools and logs.
Experience with call center technology and features in 8x8 and Cisco environments (e.g., Cisco Finesse for agent desktops).
Certifications (Preferred):
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher (Voice specialization preferred).
8x8 Certification (if applicable) or equivalent cloud communication certifications.
ITIL, VoIP, or other relevant certifications.
Preferred
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and after-hours support when required.
Ability to document and convey complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
