CAD Drafter

Position Summary:

As CAD Drafter, you will contribute to the technical expertise that LCE engineering/design provides to our clients. You will be responsible for working closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to develop design packages for shipboard habitability spaces. This work will be accomplished for various USN surface ship platforms.

Contract Requirements:

Must be a US citizen with a DoD Secret security clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Compare drawings to drafting standards and review for form, fit and function

Participate on field and ship check teams to perform site surveys to document conditions found and to facilitate accurate Ship Installation Drawing development (some travel required)

Design space arrangement using ship-check sketches, as-built, standards and other reference material in support of Habitability Improvement Program.

Develop Ship Installation Drawings in AutoCAD.

Use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD to support design tasking

Create figures and illustrations for insertion into engineering presentations, proposals and reports

Collaborate with design team members

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

Associates degree in Drafting or Engineering-related field preferred

Minimum five years of drafting experience

Experience with AutoCAD required

Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment

Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Demonstrated problem solving skills

Knowledge of commercial/industrial standards associated with the design of industrial equipment and systems

Being a self-starter capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience developing mechanical and/or electrical fabrication drawings

Knowledge of Naval, ABS and other marine standards associated with the design of shipboard systems

Physical Demands and Expectations:

Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting

Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance

Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
